In addition, in 2008 we launched our project “Give the Gift of a Future – Metalworking Shop in Ethiopia,” together with the Evangelical Youth Organization and the Ethiopian YMCA. For this project, we founded our own metal training workshop in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Each year, approximately 15 young adults will receive theoretical and practical training in the field of metalworking and will have the opportunity to earn a certificate of completion. This will allow them to find a place of work and earn their own income. The first class successfully completed training in November of 2009 and has already joined the labor force. We will continue to promote this project and, in addition to gaining new trainees, we will focus on the trainers’ skills and further improving the program as a whole. Our metalworking shop is already regarded as a model project for all of Ethiopia.
